2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami

26 December 2004 around 225000 people perished in a tsunami caused by a massive earthquake of magnitude 9 under the sea off the west coast of Indonesia. I remember that year I was so upset that I could not buy any firecracker for the new year eve celebrations and instead donated that money GBP10 to Unicef. My prayers go to all the affected people.
